Temperatures will spike today ahead of an advancing cold front but much cooler weather conditions return this weekend.

 

TODAY

 

A cold front will move through the region by this afternoon with areas of low clouds giving way to scattered clouds and isolated thunderstorms.  The thunderstorms will be capable of intense downpours, occasional lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph.  Winds will veer from the southwest to the west at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-80s over the interior, mid to upper 80s along the coast, and upper 80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

 

TONIGHT

 

Scattered clouds are expected as high pressure builds into the region.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 50s over the interior and lower to mid-60s along the coast for lows.

 

TOMORROW 

 

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-60s over the interior and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast for highs.

 

TOMORROW NIGHT

 

Clear skies to scattered cloud cover are expected.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for lows.

 

SUNDAY

 

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 60s over the interior, upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast, and lower to mid-70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

 

MONDAY

 

High pressure will exit with increasing cloud cover.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 40s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-70s over the interior and upper 70s to lower 80s along the coast for highs.

 

TUESDAY

 

A warm front will approach the region with scattered to widespread showers, heavy at times.  Temperatures will range from the upper 50s to lower 60s for lows and upper 60s to mid-70s along the coast and upper 70s to lower 80s away from the coast for highs.

 

WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

 

The warm front will stall over the region with variable clouds and scattered showers.  Temperatures through the period will range from the lower to mid-60s in the New York City metropolitan area and interior and upper 60s to lower 70s in the Philadelphia metropolitan areas for lows and lower to mid-70s in Connecticut and Long Island, upper 70s to mid-80s along the coast, mid to upper 80s over the interior, and upper 80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley.  The location of the stationary front throughout the period will be a key factor in the range of temperatures.

A cold front will move through the region with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-60s over the interior and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 70s along the coast and upper 70s to lower 80s away from the coast for highs.
