A strengthening low-pressure system will produce waves of heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts, and coastal flooding through tomorrow.  Unsettled weather conditions will continue through next week.

 

TODAY

 

An area of low pressure will approach the region with showers developing through the morning, followed by heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening.  Winds will veer to the east at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 50s over the interior and upper 50s to lower 60s along the coast for highs.

 

TONIGHT

 

Waves of rainfall, heavy at times, can be expected.  Winds will be from the east at 10 to 20 mph away from the coast and 15 to 25 mph along the coast, with gusts up to 50 mph at times.  Coastal flooding will be a threat, especially along the New Jersey coast.  Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 40s for lows.

 

TOMORROW

 

An area of low pressure will produce periods of heavy rain throughout the day.  Winds will be from the east at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts over 40 mph at times.  Rainfall amounts of 1" to 3" will be possible for the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.  Flash flooding, coastal flooding, minor wind damage, and power outages will be a threat.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for highs.

 

SUNDAY

 

The low-pressure system will drop to the south with scattered clouds with isolated showers over the interior and broken cloud cover with scattered showers over the rest of the region.  Winds will be from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s for highs.

 

MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

 

The area of low pressure will linger off the Mid Atlantic coast through much of next week with scattered clouds and isolated showers over the interior and broken cloud cover with scattered showers along the coast.  Temperatures on Monday through Wednesday will range from the lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for lows and mid-50s to lower 60s along the coast and lower to mid-60s over the interior for highs.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the lower to mid-50s for lows and lower to mid-60s over the interior and mid-60s to lower 70s away from the coast for highs.

 

FRIDAY

 

A cold front will move through the region with widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.  Temperatures will range from the upper 40s to lower 50s for lows and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast and mid to upper 70s away from the coast for highs.
