Foggy conditions have returned this morning, but clearing skies are expected this afternoon.  A wet end to the week will give way to dry but cool conditions this weekend.

 

Areas of fog, locally dense with visibility below a mile, will slowly lift by mid-morning with scattered to broken cloud cover by this afternoon.  An isolated shower is possible but not likely in the afternoon.  Winds will be from the southeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-70s along the coast and mid to upper 70s elsewhere for highs.

 

Fog will redevelop tonight through tomorrow morning with some areas falling below a mile for visibility.  Otherwise, scattered to broken cloud cover is expected.  Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s to mid-60s for lows tomorrow morning.

 

A trough of low pressure will produce isolated to widely scattered showers capable of heavy downpours at times.  Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s to lower 70s for highs.

 

A cold front will approach on Friday with widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms.  A few thunderstorms will be capable of occasional lightning, heavy downpours, hail, and wind gusts over 40 mph.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-60s for lows and mid-60s to lower 70s on Long Island and mid-70s to lower 80s elsewhere for highs.

 

The cold front will clear the coast on Saturday morning with lingering showers followed by clearing skies in the afternoon and evening.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the lower to mid-60s over the interior and New York City metro and upper 60s to lower 70s in the Philadelphia metro and southern New Jersey for lows and mid-70s to lower 80s for highs.

 

High pressure will be in control on Sunday and Monday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the lower to mid-50s over the interior and mid to upper 50s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-60s over the interior and mid-60s to lower 70s along the coast for highs.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior and mid to upper 50s along the coast for highs.

 

An area of low pressure off the coast of New England will produce scattered cloud cover and isolated showers on Tuesday.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s for lows and lower to mid-60s over the interior and New York City metro and mid to upper 60s in the Philadelphia metro and southern New Jersey for highs.
