After a very stormy afternoon throughout the region yesterday, especially in central and southern New Jersey, the threat shifts further north for severe thunderstorms towards Connecticut and Long Island.
A cold front will move through the region today with showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon. The strongest thunderstorms may reach severe levels with intense downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts over 60 mph. The strongest thunderstorms are likely to be found in Connecticut and Long Island, however, all locations are at risk today. Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into
the mid-80s to lower 90s for highs this afternoon.
The cold front will exit off the coast tonight with scattered to broken cloud cover expected. Lingering isolated showers remain a threat. Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures tomorrow morning will fall into the mid to upper 60s for lows.
A weak trough will rotate through the region tomorrow with scattered to broken clouds and isolated showers a threat. Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures tomorrow will rise into the mid-80s to lower 90s for highs.

Hot and humid weather conditions return briefly ahead of a strong cold front on Friday with scattered to broken cloud cover and isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from the mid-60s to lower 70s for lows and upper 70s to mid-80s on Long Island and mid-80s to lower 90s elsewhere for highs.
A cold front will drop south on Saturday, Fourth of July, with scattered cloud cover and an isolated shower possible. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the mid to upper 60s for lows and mid-70s to lower 80s along the coast and lower to mid-80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
