Muggy, tropical conditions will linger over the region through the end of the week. A rainstorm is expected by Friday evening with heavy rainfall a threat, especially along the coast.
The stalled frontal boundary will lift through the region today as a warm front with scattered to broken clouds and isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms will be capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts over 40 mph. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to mid-80s along the coast and mid-80s to lower 90s elsewhere for
highs.
A weak trough will linger over the Delaware River Valley tonight through tomorrow with areas of fog and low clouds giving way to scattered to broken cloud cover in the afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm remains a threat. Winds will veer to the southeast at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s for lows and lower to mid-80s along the coast and upper 80s to lower 90s elsewhere for highs.
An area of low pressure will approach from the south on Friday with rain developing in the afternoon. Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected from the Delaware River on through southern New England while scattered tropical scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected over much of eastern Pennsylvania. Rainfall will continue through Friday night. Rainfall amounts may exceed 2" in some locations along the coast via embedded
thunderstorms. Winds will be from the east at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-70s for lows and lower to mid-80s for highs.
The low-pressure system will exit on Saturday with periods of rain giving way to clearing skies towards the evening hours. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the lower to mid-70s for lows and upper 70s to mid-80s for highs.
A series of weak cold fronts will follow Sunday through Tuesday with isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures through the period will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s for lows and lower to mid-80s on the immediate coast and upper 80s to lower 90s elsewhere with humid conditions.
