Highlights: Two low-pressure systems will slide south of the region this week, bringing wintry weather chances for both Tuesday and Thursday. Arctic air will follow Thursday's system for the weekend.

 

Sunday: High pressure will be in control with mostly clear skies expected and winds out of the west-northwest at 10-20 mph. High temperatures for the coast will be in the low to mid-30s, and in the mid to upper 20s for the interior. Some high clouds may begin to move in for the evening, but no precipitation is expected.

 

Monday: Overnight, light winds and mostly clear skies may allow some interior locations to drop into the mid-10s for lows, with a light northwest wind at the coast holding temperatures in the mid-20s for lows. Temperatures during the day will warm into the mid-30s for the coast and to near 30 for the interior. Clouds will increase throughout the day as our storm system approaches from the west.

 

Monday Night through 7 am Tuesday: The chance for some snow showers will begin around 10 pm Monday night for southeast Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Coastal temperatures will be near freezing while the interior will be in the mid to upper 20s. As light precipitation overspreads the region overnight, Zones 4 and 5 will likely see mixing and rain at times, which will limit snow accumulation potential there. Precipitation is not expected to be steady throughout the entire night, there will be times where no precipitation is falling in places

 

7 am Tuesday Onward: Snow showers continue to overspread the region, with NYC and points to the north and east getting into the light snowfall. Temperatures will hold in the upper 20s to near 30 for the interior, and the coast will be in the low to mid-30s. Winds will be out of the east at around 5-15 mph. During most of the day, zone 5 will likely be rain, portions of zone 4 will be either a wintry mix or rain and all other zones will remain snow with some sleet mixing in at times. In all zones, precipitation will be on and off, with times of no precipitation falling.

 

Tuesday Night through 9 am Wednesday: As the low pressure moves away from the region, an inverted trough may allow snow to stick around longer in some places. Expect overnight temperatures near the coast to remain around freezing, with the interior remaining in the upper 20s to near 30. Light winds will become more northeasterly.

 

9 am Wednesday Onward: With all rain and snow showers ending, temperatures will push into the mid-30s at the coast and the low 30s for the interior. Light winds out of the northeast and mostly cloudy skies expected.

 

Thursday: A second storm system will slide to the south of the region and bring the chance of some snow showers for the region overnight and throughout the day Thursday. This low pressure will quickly strengthen over the ocean and will be monitored throughout the week for any potential changes. Morning lows in the mid-30s for the coast and upper 20s for the interior will hold steady through the afternoon with strong winds out of the northeast.

 

Friday: Arctic air will be pulled in behind Thursday's system, with overnight lows near 20 for the coast and in the upper single digits for the interior. Highs for the day will only be in the mid-20s for the coast and mid-10s for the interior. Gusty winds out of the northeast will likely bring bitter wind chills.

 

Saturday: Arctic air continues to pour in with low temperatures in the lower single digits for the interior and mid-10s for the coast. High temperatures in the upper 20s for the coast and mid to upper 10s for the interior.
