Periods of light snow, sleet, and rain will linger over the region through tomorrow morning.  A more significant storm is possible by early next week.

 

An area of low pressure will approach the region from the southwest today with periods of snow and sleet over the interior and New York City metro and snow, sleet, rain mix in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and New Jersey coast.  Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid-30s in the I-95 corridor, and mid-30s to lower 40s along the coast.

 

The low-pressure system will pass through the coastal waters tonight with periods of light snow and sleet.  Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s for lows.

 

The low-pressure system will exit in the morning with a few lingering snow and sleet showers.  Scattered clouds are expected by the afternoon with a flurry possible.  Winds will back to the north at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast.

 

Snowfall accumulations will range from a trace to two inches along the coast and 1" to 3" for most interior locations with isolated amounts up to 5" in the Poconos and Catskills.  Slick road conditions will be a threat.

 

An arctic cold front will drop south through the region on Thursday with scattered clouds and a few widely scattered snow showers.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10s to the lower 20s over the interior and mid-20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to mid-30s along the coast for highs.

 

High pressure will be in control Friday through Sunday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures through the period will range from the single digits below zero to single digits over the interior and single digits to mid-10s along the coast for lows and mid-10s to lower 20s over the interior and lower 20s to lower 30s along the coast for highs.

 

An area of low pressure will develop over the coastal waters Monday morning through Tuesday with periods of snow, sleet, and rain.  Significant snow accumulation is possible.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the mid-10s to lower 20s for lows and lower to mid-30s for highs.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the mid-20s to lower 30s for lows and lower to mid-30s for highs.
