An active winter weather pattern continues on through this week as a series of winter storms impact the region.

 

A series of weak troughs will pass through the region through this afternoon with overcast skies and isolated to widely scattered snow, sleet, and rain showers.  Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

 

An area of low pressure will lift through the region tonight on through tomorrow morning with a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain gradually changing over to rain from the coast into the interior.  Significant ice accumulation will be a threat for the interior as a result of some locations exceeding 0.25" of ice before any change over to rain.  The wintry precipitation will exit tomorrow morning followed by clearing skies in the afternoon.  Winds will back from the northeast to north at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise through the period into the upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid-40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.  Details on the impacts are on the map below.

High pressure will be in place for Wednesday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the single digits to lower 10s over the interior and mid-10s to lower 20s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for highs.

 

Another area of low pressure will approach the region on Thursday with periods of snow developing in the afternoon with some accumulation expected throughout the region.  The snow will gradually mix over to sleet and then rain through Thursday evening into Friday morning.  Skies will clear by Friday afternoon.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the lower to mid-10s over the interior and upper 10s to mid-20s along the coast for lows and mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for highs.  Temperatures on Friday will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid-30s to lower 40s along the coast for highs through the morning and then fall into the 30s and 20s towards evening.

 

High pressure will produce clear skies to scattered cloud cover on Saturday and Sunday with chilly conditions.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the upper 10s to the lower 20s for lows and mid-20s to lower 30s for highs.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the single digits to mid-10s for lows and upper 20s to lower 30s for highs.

 

An area of low pressure will produce rain and snow showers on Monday.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows and upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.
