Highlights: Widespread rain is expected for the region throughout the rest of our Sunday, becoming more scattered in nature overnight. A cold front will swing through the region Monday afternoon with gusty winds and below normal temperatures overnight and into Tuesday.
Sunday: Light rain and winds out of the east at 5-10 mph will make for a dreary Sunday afternoon. Highs will make it into the mid-40s at the coast and upper 30s to low 40s for the interior.
Sunday Night into Monday: Mostly cloudy skies and winds out of the southeast at 5-15 mph will keep temperatures in the low 40s for the coast and mid to upper 30s overnight for the interior. Scattered rain is expected to continue.
Some areas in the far northern interior, such as the Catskills and Poconos may see temperatures right around freezing. This could bring a very isolated chance of icy conditions overnight there.
Monday: High temperatures for the day will likely occur at or before noon as an arctic cold front pushes through the region during the morning. Temperatures in the upper 40s for the coast are likely, with southern New Jersey possibly breaking into the low 50s around noon. The interior will likely see highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s.
Through most of the day, expect winds sustained around 10-20 mph, with gusts over 30 mph likely as we head towards the evening.
Monday Night into Tuesday: Sustained winds of 10-25 mph out of the northwest will occur throughout the night, with isolated gusts of 30-40 mph possible. Temperatures will bottom out in the upper teens to lower 20s for the coast and lower teens for the interior.
Although we have seen colder temperatures this winter, strong winds will produce wind chills in the single digits above zero for the coast and single digits below zero for the interior. The interior will see some snow showers and an isolated snow squall in the early portions of the night, with the coast likely seeing some flurries. Stay tuned for updates tomorrow about the chances for snow showers and squalls.
Tuesday: Winds will continue for the day Tuesday but will become more westerly with a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures in the low to mid-30s for the coast and mid to upper 20s for the interior are expected.
Tuesday Night into Wednesday: Low temperatures in the low 30s for the coast and upper 20s for the interior with a southwest wind.
Wednesday: Temperatures may try to rebound before another round of colder air pushes in for the end of the week. Temperatures in the low to mid-40s for the interior and mid to upper 40s for the coast are possible. Temperatures may break 50 in areas around Philadelphia. Some uncertainty remains still being 3 days out.
Wednesday Night into Thursday: Temperatures in the low to mid-20s for the interior and the low to mid-30s for the coast are expected as colder air makes a return.
Thursday: Highs in the upper 20s for the interior and mid-30s for the coast are expected.
Thursday Night into Friday: Temperatures in the low to mid-20s for the coast and low to mid teens for the interior.
Friday: Highs in the low to mid-30s for the coast and mid to upper 20s for the interior expected.
