Waves of showers and thunderstorms will move through the region this afternoon with a few thunderstorms reaching severe levels.

 

A strong cold front will move through the region this afternoon with showers and strong to severe thunderstorms from 11 AM to 7 PM.  The strongest thunderstorms, likely focused in the Delaware River Valley, will be capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, small hail, wind gusts over 60 mph, and possibly an isolated tornado.  The winds will be from the south at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-50s in the Poconos and Catskills, mid-50s to lower 60s over the rest of the interior, mid-60s to lower 70s in the Delaware River Valley, and upper 50s to mid-60s along the immediate coast for highs.

 

The cold front will clear the region tonight with clear skies to scattered cloud cover expected.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows.

 

High pressure will build into the region tomorrow with clear skies to scattered clouds.  Winds from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

 

High pressure will pass to the south of the region on Friday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and mid-50s to lower 60s for highs.

 

High pressure will exit on Saturday with increasing cloud cover expected.  Temperatures will range from the mid-30s to lower 40s for lows and lower to mid-60s over the interior, upper 50s to mid-60s along the coast, and mid-60s to lower 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.

 

An area of low pressure will produce periods of rain, especially in the morning hours, on Sunday.  The rain will be heavy at times.  Skies will clear from west to east in the late afternoon and evening hours.  Temperatures will range from the mid-40s to lower 50s over the interior and lower to mid-50s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior and upper 50s to mid-60s along the coast for highs.

 

High pressure will be in control Monday through Wednesday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior and upper 50s to mid-60s along the coast for highs on Monday.  Temperatures on Tuesday will range from the lower to mid-30s over the interior and upper 30s to lower 40s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-50s over the interior, upper 50s to mid-60s along the coast, and mid-60s to lower 70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the upper 30s to mid-40s for lows and mid-60s to lower 70s for highs.
