After a hot weekend, a cool air mass invades just in time to start a new week. Another surge of hot and humid weather conditions returns by mid-week with a threat for thunderstorms.
High pressure will continue to build south from Canada today with scattered to broken cloud cover giving way to clearing skies. Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 60s along the coast and lower to mid-70s away from the coast this afternoon for highs.
The frontal boundary will rebound tonight through tomorrow afternoon with scattered to broken clouds and isolated showers. Winds will veer from the northeast to southeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid-50s over the interior and mid to upper 50s along the coast for lows and mid-60s to lower 70s along the coast and mid to upper 70s away from the coast for highs.
A strong cold front will approach on Wednesday with areas of fog in the morning hours followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon along with humid conditions. The thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, occasional lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph. Winds will veer to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-60s for lows and mid-70s to lower 80s along the immediate coast
mid-80s to lower 90s away from the coast for highs.
The cold front will clear the coast on Thursday morning with linger showers followed by clearing skies and falling humidity in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-60s over the interior and mid-60s to lower 70s along the coast for lows and upper 70s to lower 80s over the interior, lower to mid-80s along the coast, and mid-80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
Another cold front will follow on Friday with isolated to widely scattered showers. Temperatures will range from the upper 40s to mid-50s over the interior and mid-50s to lower 60s along the coast for lows and upper 50s to mid-60s over the interior and upper 60s to mid-70s along the coast for highs.
High pressure will push the frontal boundary to the south on Saturday through Memorial Day Monday with scattered to broken cloud cover expected. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid-40s to lower 50s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-60s along the coast, mid-60s to lower 70s over the interior, and upper 60s to mid-70s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
