Hot and humid conditions will continue through tomorrow, but a cooler, wet weather pattern returns for the end of the week into the Fourth of July weekend.

 

Hazy, hot, and humid conditions will continue through tomorrow with low clouds and fog in the morning giving way to scattered clouds and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.  winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid-80s to lower 90s along the coast and lower to mid-90s away from the coast for highs this afternoon.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid-70s for lows and mid-80s to lower 90s along the coast and lower to mid-90s away from the coast for highs.  A heat index of 95 to 105 in the New York City metropolitan area and 100 to 110 in the Philadelphia metropolitan areas is expected in the afternoon hours.

 

A strong cold front will slowly drop into the region on Thursday with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected.  The thunderstorms will be capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph.  Flash flooding will be a concern.  Winds will veer from the southwest to the north at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s over the interior and lower to mid-70s along the coast for lows and upper 70s to mid-80s over the interior and mid-80s to lower 90s along the coast for highs.  

 

The cold front will continue to slowly sink south through the region on Friday with waves of low pressure along the cold front producing waves of showers with heavy rainfall at times.  Temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to mid-60s over the interior and upper 60s to lower 70s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-70s over the interior and mid-70s to lower 80s along the coast for highs.

 

The cold front is expected to stall over the coastal waters Saturday through Monday making for unsettled conditions through the Fourth of July weekend.  Scattered to broken cloud cover can be expected with isolated to widely scattered showers. Onshore winds can be expected through the holiday weekend.  Temperatures on Saturday will range from the lower to mid-60s for lows and mid-60s to lower 70s for highs.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the upper 50s to mid-60s for lows and lower to mid-70s on the coast and mid to upper 70s away from the coast for highs.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the upper 50s to mid-60s for lows and mid to upper 70s over the interior and upper 70s to mid-80s along the coast for highs. 

 

The frontal boundary will lift north as a warm front on Tuesday with scattered clouds and isolated showers.  Temperatures will range from the mid-60s to lower 70s for lows and lower to mid-80s along the coast and mid-80s to lower 90s away from the coast for highs.
