After a few morning showers, a tropical air mass will slowly build into the region through this weekend into next week with morning fog and isolated afternoon thunderstorms returning daily along with an elevated heat index.
As an area of low-pressure exits into the Atlantic Ocean, skies will continue to clear from west to east. Winds will back from the northeast to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s to lower 80s for higher elevations and along the coast and lower to mid-80s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
A series of weak troughs will linger over the region tomorrow through Saturday with scattered clouds along with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid-60s for lows and upper 70s to lower 80s along the coast and mid to upper 80s away from the coast for highs. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the mid to upper 60s for lows and upper 70s
to lower 80s along the coast, lower to mid-80s over the interior, and mid-80s to lower 90s in the Delaware River Valley for highs.
A series of weak troughs and cold fronts will stall over the region with increasing humidity along with fog in the morning and isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours Sunday through Thursday. The thunderstorms will be capable of intense downpours, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph. Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s for lows and lower to mid-80s along the coast,
mid-80s to lower 90s over the interior, and upper 80s to mid-90s in the Delaware River Valley and urban areas for highs. A heat index between 95 to 105 degrees will be a threat.
