A series of troughs will swing through our region this week and provide opportunities for precipitation. The active pattern will bring the threat of locally heavy rainfall and windy conditions to the area.
Sunday: A warm front approaching the region will bring increasing clouds and give way to showers. Rain will become steadier during the overnight hours, especially for northern regions. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50s to low 60s for the coast while the interior is stuck in the upper 40s to mid-50s for highs. Winds will be from the south at 5-10 mph. Temperatures will slowly rise overnight after the warm front passes.
Monday: Residual showers from the warm front will be clearing the area early before another system moves in overnight, bringing steady rain to the region. Temperatures will climb into the low 60s to near 70. Far northern areas could be stuck in the mid to upper 50s as the warm front gets hung up. Winds will increase as the day goes on and be from the northeast at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the low 40s to near
50 for the interior while the coast is in the mid-50s to low 60s.
Tuesday: Quite a dreary day is expected as a strong area of low pressure will be parked off the New Jersey coastline. Waves of rain will sit over the area and bring rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches with locally higher amounts. Temperatures will rise into the mid-40s to low 50s for highs for the interior, and low 50s to upper 50s for the coast. Winds will be from the northwest at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph possible. Overnight lows will drop
into the low 40s to near 50 for the interior while the coast is in the low 50s.
Wednesday: Cloudy skies early will clear as the system exits the region. A residual shower is possible early. Temperatures will reach into the mid-50s to low 60s for southern regions while northern regions are in the upper 40s to mid-50s. Breezy conditions early will diminish as the day goes on. Winds will be from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the low 40s to near 50. Some mountain locations could drop into the upper
30s.
Thursday: Clear conditions early will give way to increasing clouds as another area of low pressure approaches the region. Showers can be expected for southern regions during the overnight hours. Temperatures will reach the mid-50s to low 60s for highs. Winds will be from the east at 5-10 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 30s to mid-40s for the interior while the coast will be in the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Friday: Off and on rain showers will continue as the area of low-pressure swings its way through the region. Pockets of steadier rain are possible in the heaviest bands leading to accumulations of up to an inch. Temperatures will rise into the mid-40s to low 50s for the interior while the coast is in the mid-50s to low 60s. Winds will be from the east at 10-15 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the low 40s to near 50 for the interior while the
coast is in the low 5os to near 60.
Weekend: A dreary weekend is on tap as the slow-moving area of low-pressure works its way out of the region. Overcast conditions with rounds of showers are possible. Temperatures will range from the upper 40s to mid-50s for the interior with the coast reaching the low 50s to near 60 for highs. Winds will be from the west at 5-10 mph. Overnight lows will range from the low 40s to near 50.
