A powerful cold front and a wave of low pressure will bring heavy rain, strong winds, and snow tonight into tomorrow morning.  Chilly but dry weather conditions follow for the rest of the week.

10 PM TONIGHT THROUGH 6 AM TOMORROW

The cold front will slowly pass through the region with heavy downpours and embedded thunderstorms ahead of the cold front.  The thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning, visibility below 2 miles, and wind gusts between 40 to 70 mph.  Meanwhile, behind the cold front, temperatures will rapidly crash into the 40s and 30s, with rain mixing over to snow.  The snow will first accumulate in the highest elevations and mix down towards lower elevations.

6 AM TO 12 PM TOMORROW

The area of low pressure along the coast will continue to intensify and lift into New England while precipitation changes from rain to snow towards the coastal plain.  Temperatures will rapidly fall through the 50s, 40s, and 30s as the precipitation ends.  The snow will be briefly heavy before ending, supporting snow accumulation, mostly on cold surfaces for a short period of time.  Locations north and west of the I-95 corridor can expect accumulation over 1" while locations along and south and east of the I-95 corridor will remain below 1".

TOMORROW NIGHT

High pressure will build into the region with clearing skies.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid-20s over the interior and mid to upper 20s along the coast for lows.

TUESDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the 

southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 30s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.

WEDNESDAY

A cold front will drop through the region with scattered clouds and flurries.  Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-2s over the interior and upper 20s to lower 30s along the coast for lows and mid to upper 30s over the interior and lower to mid-40s along the coast for highs.

THURSDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10s to lower 20s over the interior and lower to mid-20s along the coast for lows and mid-20s to lower 30s over the interior and mid to upper 30s along the coast for highs.

FRIDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid-20s for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.

SATURDAY

High pressure will exit the region with increasing clouds.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10s to mid-20s over the interior and upper 20s to mid-30s along the coast for lows and upper 30s to lower 40s over the interior and mid to upper 40s along the coast for highs.

SUNDAY

High pressure will remain over the coast with scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20s over the interior and upper 20s to mid-30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior and upper 40s to lower 50s along the coast for highs.

MONDAY

High pressure will produce scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s over the interior, lower to mid-30s in the Delaware River Valley, and mid to upper 30s along the coast for lows and lower to mid-40s over the interior, upper 40s to lower 50s in the Delaware River Valley, and lower to mid-50s along the coast for highs.
